FAQ

Organisations across the UK are recognising that neuroinclusion is no longer a “nice to have” but a fundamental part of building healthy, modern workplaces. With around one in seven people in the UK identifying as neurodivergent, a significant proportion of the workforce is still navigating systems and cultures that weren’t designed with different ways of thinking in mind. Many of the barriers neurodivergent employees experience are avoidable, recruitment processes that favour one communication style, environments that overwhelm the senses, or day‑to‑day practices that unintentionally limit how people can contribute. The UK Neurodiversity Recognition Scheme was created to give organisations a clear and credible way to show they are addressing these gaps and building workplaces where neurodivergent colleagues can genuinely thrive.

What does achieving the accreditation involve?

Each pathway includes a set of clear criteria that reflect the level you’re working towards. For organisations, this focuses on culture, processes and practical implementation. For individuals, it centres on learning, reflection and the application of inclusive practice. Once you complete the initial information form, you’ll receive guidance on the steps involved and what evidence or learning is required at each level.

How do I know whether the Organisation or Individual pathway is right for me?

It depends on the type of impact you want to make. The organisational pathway is designed for companies that want to strengthen neuroinclusive practice across their culture, processes and employee experience. The individual pathway is ideal for people who want to build their own knowledge, confidence and capability, and demonstrate their personal commitment to neuroinclusion in their professional role.

What happens after I submit my application form?

Once you complete the application form, you’ll receive an email outlining the next steps, including what’s involved at your chosen level and the type of evidence or learning you’ll need to provide. You’ll be guided through the process at a steady, supportive pace, so you always know what to expect and how to move forward confidently.

How long does accreditation or recognition last?

Accreditation at each level is valid for 12 months, giving you time to embed what you’ve learned and continue developing your practice. After this period, you can renew or progress to the next level, depending on where you are in your journey. This approach keeps the scheme meaningful and ensures that recognition reflects current, active commitment to neuroinclusion.
